Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 21, 2026

ProgressLens is designed as a local-first fitness journal. Your progress photos, body measurements, workout entries, and notes are stored on your device and are not uploaded to us. Limited app-usage, crash, and purchase information may be processed as described below.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how ProgressLens ("ProgressLens," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the ProgressLens Android application (the "App"). By using the App, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.

2. Information handled by the App

Content you provide. The App lets you create and store:

  • progress photos and photo labels;
  • body measurements, including bodyweight, waist, chest, shoulders, arms, and thighs;
  • workout or check-in entries, exercise sets, dates, and notes;
  • preferences such as units, reminder schedules, camera settings, and display choices; and
  • backups, comparison images, and other exports you choose to create.

This content is stored locally in the App's private storage on your device. We do not operate an account system or a cloud service that receives this content.

Permissions. The App may request access to:

  • Camera, so you can take progress photos; and
  • Notifications, so the App can deliver reminders you configure.

You can manage these permissions in Android system settings.

Analytics and diagnostics. Production versions of the App use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. These services may process limited information such as App screens and feature events, broad entry-count ranges, Pro status, purchase-flow results, App version and build type, device and operating-system information, App-instance identifiers, crash logs, stack traces, and related technical diagnostics.

Our telemetry is designed not to include your photos, filenames or file paths, free-text notes, body measurements, exact bodyweight, backup or export contents, raw image metadata, direct personal identifiers, exact entry dates, or exact entry counts. We do not set a Firebase user ID. Telemetry is disabled in debug builds.

Purchase information. If you make a purchase, Google Play processes the transaction. The App receives purchase status and a purchase token or related entitlement information needed to unlock and restore paid features. We do not receive your full payment-card details. The App stores a local copy of your entitlement status for offline use.

3. How information is used

We use or process information only as needed to:

  • provide the App's journal, camera, comparison, reminder, backup, export, and paid-feature functionality;
  • understand basic feature usage and improve the App;
  • detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and technical problems;
  • complete purchases, verify entitlement status, and restore purchases; and
  • comply with applicable law, enforce our rights, and protect the security of the App.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our agreement with you, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the App, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where required.

4. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell your personal information and do not use your information for targeted advertising. We may disclose limited information to:

  • Google Firebase, which provides analytics and crash-reporting services;
  • Google Play, which provides App distribution, billing, purchase verification, and related platform services;
  • professional advisers, authorities, or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, prevent harm, or protect our rights; and
  • a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of the App, subject to this policy and applicable law.

These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies and may process it in countries other than your own.

5. Backups, exports, and device services

You control when the App creates a backup or export and where you send it. A backup may contain progress photos, measurements, labels, dates, notes, and related App data. When you share a backup, photo, or comparison through Android's sharing interface, the receiving app or service handles that content under its own privacy practices. Review your chosen destination before sharing sensitive content.

Depending on your device, Android version, and system backup settings, Android may include some App data in a device backup managed by Google or your device provider. You can manage device backup through Android settings. ProgressLens does not independently upload your journal content to its own servers.

6. Retention and deletion

Your locally stored journal content remains on your device until you delete individual entries, clear the App's storage, or uninstall the App. Copies you export, share, or include in a device backup remain wherever you placed them until deleted there.

Analytics, crash, and purchase-related information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, subject to service-provider settings, legal requirements, and legitimate operational needs. Aggregated or de-identified information may be retained where it no longer identifies you.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information. Journal content is kept in App-private device storage, and sharing access is granted only when you initiate an export or share action. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, however. You are responsible for securing your device, Google account, exported files, and chosen backup locations.

8. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, or the higher minimum age required in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account or cloud service. If you believe a child has provided personal information through telemetry or a support request, contact us so we can review the issue.

9. Your choices and privacy rights

You can control most information directly on your device. You may:

  • review and delete journal entries in the App;
  • revoke camera or notification permissions in Android settings;
  • disable reminders in the App;
  • manage Android backup settings;
  • clear all local App data or uninstall the App; and
  • manage purchase and Google account information through Google Play.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information, or to receive a portable copy and lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. To submit a request, contact us using the address below. We may need to verify your request. Because ProgressLens has no user accounts and does not receive your locally stored journal content, we generally cannot access, retrieve, or delete that content for you.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App, our practices, or applicable law. We will revise the date at the top of this page when we make changes. Material changes may also be communicated through the App or its store listing where appropriate.
