ProgressLens

Privacy Policy & Terms of Use for Apple and Android

Last updated: September 4, 2026

Important: ProgressLens is a local-first personal progress journal for Apple and Android devices. Your journal content stays on your device unless you explicitly export or share it. Release versions may send limited analytics and crash diagnostics through Firebase.

ProgressLens Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 4, 2026

ProgressLens ("ProgressLens," "we," "us," or "our") is a mobile app for Apple and Android devices. It helps you record progress photos, body measurements, notes, labels, comparisons, trends, reminders, backups, and user-initiated sharing. This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled by ProgressLens, how it is handled, and the choices available to you.

Questions? Contact support@progresslens.app.

1. The short version

  • Your progress photos, measurements, notes, labels, and app preferences are stored locally on your device by default. ProgressLens does not require an account and does not automatically upload this journal data to ProgressLens servers.
  • ProgressLens does not sell your journal data, use it for advertising, use it to train artificial-intelligence models, or use it to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
  • Release versions may use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand product usage and diagnose crashes. These services receive limited analytics, diagnostic, and device information, not the contents of your journal.
  • Apple and Google process App Store or Google Play payments and subscription transactions. ProgressLens does not receive your full payment-card details.
  • If you export a backup, share an image, use a share sheet, or send us an email, information may leave your device at your direction and may then be handled by the service or provider you choose.

2. Information you provide or create

Journal information stored on your device

When you use ProgressLens, you may create or import:

  • progress photos captured with the camera or selected from your Photos library;
  • photo dates, front/side/back or custom labels, and optional photo notes;
  • bodyweight, waist, chest, shoulder, arm, and thigh measurements;
  • display, camera, unit, reminder, sharing, and watermark preferences; and
  • local subscription-entitlement cache information used to remember verified App Store or Google Play access between checks.

This information can be sensitive personal information. It is used to provide the journal, comparison, timeline, chart, reminder, export, restore, and sharing features that you request. It is stored in the app's local storage and is not automatically sent to ProgressLens.

ProgressLens may read the capture date or file date of a photo so the photo can be placed correctly in your timeline. Imported photos are normalized into the app's managed local photo storage. ProgressLens does not request or use precise location information from your photos.

Camera and Photos access

ProgressLens uses the camera only when you choose to take a photo. On Apple devices, it uses Apple's Photos picker; on Android devices, it uses the Android photo picker or the equivalent system media picker when you choose to import a photo. The app does not continuously monitor the camera and does not access your entire photo library through these pickers. You can deny or later revoke camera and photo permissions in iOS or Android settings, although the related features will not work without them.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, ProgressLens schedules local notifications on your device using the schedule and label information you choose. ProgressLens does not use a server to send push notifications and does not need your location to schedule reminders. You can disable reminders in the app or in iOS or Android notification settings.

3. Information collected automatically

Release versions of ProgressLens on Apple and Android may use the following Firebase services supplied by Google:

  • Firebase Analytics helps us understand which screens and product features are used and whether flows such as check-ins, measurements, comparisons, sharing, backups, reminders, settings, and subscriptions are working as intended.
  • Firebase Crashlytics helps us detect, investigate, and fix crashes and other technical failures.

Depending on the device, operating system, SDK configuration, and event, these services may process:

  • a device or app-instance identifier and other identifiers supplied by Apple or Firebase;
  • app version, operating-system version, device model, locale, network and technical information;
  • screen names and limited product-interaction events;
  • broad, non-exact categories such as entry-count buckets, subscription status, selected unit system, reminder or sharing settings, and success/cancellation/failure results; and
  • crash reports, diagnostic information, and limited technical context needed to reproduce a problem.

Our ProgressLens telemetry boundary is designed not to send photo files, photo notes, raw measurement values, journal text, names of custom labels, payment-card information, or precise location. Firebase may infer coarse location from network information; ProgressLens does not request or use precise location.

We use this information for app functionality, security and reliability, customer support, analytics, and product improvement. We do not use it for cross-app or cross-website tracking, personalized advertising, or sale of personal information. ProgressLens does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission because it does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Firebase may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Google describes its handling of information in the Google Privacy Policy. We require our service providers to handle information only for the purposes described here, to protect it appropriately, and not to use your journal content for their own advertising or unrelated purposes.

4. When information is shared

ProgressLens does not share your journal content with ProgressLens advertising partners or data brokers. Information can be shared in the following situations:

  1. When you choose to share or export it. ProgressLens can create a shareable image or a plaintext ZIP backup containing the photos and journal data you select. The Apple share sheet, Files provider, iCloud Drive, Android Sharesheet, Files provider, cloud provider, email provider, social network, or other destination you select will handle the information under its own terms and privacy policy. ProgressLens cannot control what a destination does after you send it there.
  2. With service providers. Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics receive the limited analytics and diagnostic information described above. Apple and Google receive information needed to process App Store or Google Play purchases and verify subscription entitlements.
  3. For legal or safety reasons. We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, a valid legal process, protect the rights or safety of users or others, investigate fraud or abuse, or protect the security of the app.
  4. As part of a business transfer. If ProgressLens or substantially all of its assets is acquired, merged, or reorganized, information may transfer subject to this Privacy Policy or protections that are no less protective.

ProgressLens does not automatically sync your journal to iCloud, Google Drive, or another cloud service. A backup created by you is a plaintext ZIP archive, not an encrypted backup. Treat any exported or shared backup as sensitive and choose a destination you trust.

5. App Store and Google Play purchases

ProgressLens Pro subscriptions may be purchased through Apple's App Store using StoreKit or through Google Play using Google Play Billing, depending on your device and storefront. Apple or Google handles payment authorization, billing, refunds, and the applicable store transaction record. ProgressLens receives only the product and entitlement information needed to unlock and restore Pro features, such as whether a supported subscription is active and its expiration status. ProgressLens does not receive your full payment-card details.

Purchases are associated with the Apple Account or Google Account used through the applicable store. Unless ProgressLens expressly provides account-based cross-platform access, an Apple purchase and a Google Play purchase are separate and may not transfer between platforms.

6. Retention and deletion

Data on your device

Your journal data and preferences remain on your device until you delete entries, use the in-app reset function, or uninstall ProgressLens. Resetting ProgressLens deletes locally stored progress photos, measurements, custom labels, preferences, and scheduled reminders, but does not cancel or delete an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription. Uninstalling the app may remove its local data according to the behavior of the operating system. Exported backups and shared copies are separate from the app; delete them from the Files, cloud, mail, or other destination where you saved them.

Analytics and crash data

Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics retain information according to the applicable Google/Firebase configuration and retention settings, and only for as long as reasonably necessary for analytics, security, reliability, support, and product improvement. We may delete or anonymize information sooner when practical. These records are not linked to a ProgressLens account because ProgressLens does not provide accounts. As a result, some pseudonymous or aggregated records may not be reasonably identifiable or removable in response to an individual request.

Support messages

If you email support@progresslens.app, we use your email address and the contents of your message to respond, troubleshoot, and keep a reasonable support history. We retain support correspondence only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes, legal obligations, or dispute resolution.

To request deletion of personal information that ProgressLens can reasonably identify or control, email support@progresslens.app with the request. Do not include progress photos or other sensitive information unless it is necessary for your request. We may need to verify the request, and we may retain information where required by law or needed to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

7. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a copy of personal information, and to withdraw consent for optional processing. You can manage most locally stored journal data directly in ProgressLens, and you can manage camera, photo, and notification permissions in iOS or Android settings. Contact us at support@progresslens.app to exercise rights relating to information we control.

You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority. Nothing in this Privacy Policy limits rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

8. Security

ProgressLens uses platform-provided app-private storage and operating-system data-protection controls for its managed local journal files and preferences. No device, storage system, transmission, or software is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your device passcode or lock screen and for choosing a secure destination for any backup or shared file. Because backups created by the app are plaintext ZIP archives, do not send them to an untrusted destination.

9. Children

ProgressLens is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact support@progresslens.app.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, our services, or applicable law changes. We will post the updated version at this page and update the effective date. If a change materially affects how we handle information, we will provide additional notice where required by law.

ProgressLens Terms of Use

Effective date: September 4, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the publisher of ProgressLens ("ProgressLens," "we," "us," or "our"). They govern your use of the ProgressLens applications for Apple and Android devices and any related features. By downloading, installing, accessing, or using ProgressLens, or by purchasing ProgressLens Pro, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

If you are accepting these Terms for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization. If you do not have that authority, do not accept these Terms.

1. Platform license terms and EULA

ProgressLens is licensed, not sold, through the applicable app store. Unless we provide a custom end-user license agreement for ProgressLens, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the Apple version of the app. For the Android version, your use is also subject to the applicable Google Play Terms of Service and Google Play Developer Program policies. We have not provided a separate custom EULA for Google Play.

These Terms govern your relationship with ProgressLens concerning the app's optional features, subscriptions, user content, and other services. If these Terms conflict with Apple's Standard EULA, Google Play terms, or mandatory platform terms, the applicable platform terms control for that conflict.

2. What ProgressLens does

ProgressLens is a personal wellness journaling tool. It helps you record progress photos and body measurements, organize entries, view comparisons and trends, set local reminders, create backups, restore backups, and share images at your direction. Features and availability may vary by device, iOS or Android version, country, storefront, and subscription status.

ProgressLens does not provide medical, diagnostic, treatment, nutritional, fitness, or other professional healthcare advice. It does not diagnose, prevent, or treat a disease or condition. Photos, measurements, charts, comparisons, and trends may be incomplete, inaccurate, or affected by lighting, pose, equipment, technique, or other factors. Do not use ProgressLens for emergencies or as a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

3. Eligibility and your responsibility

You must use ProgressLens lawfully and comply with these Terms and all applicable Apple, Google Play, and operating-system terms. ProgressLens is not directed to children under 13. You are responsible for your device, your Apple Account or Google Account, your local data, your backups, and everything you do with the app.

Only capture, import, store, export, or share photos and other content when you have the rights and permissions to do so. Do not photograph or share another person, or use their personal information, without an appropriate legal basis or permission.

4. Your content and local storage

You retain ownership of the photos, measurements, notes, labels, and other content you create or import. ProgressLens does not claim ownership of that content. The app processes it locally to provide the features you request.

ProgressLens does not require an account and does not automatically upload your journal to ProgressLens. When you use an export, restore, share, email, Apple Files or iCloud Drive, Android Files or a cloud provider, or another third-party destination, you direct that transfer and are responsible for the destination and its terms. ProgressLens backups are plaintext ZIP archives and are not guaranteed to be encrypted or recoverable. Maintain a backup you trust before deleting or resetting local data.

You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of your content. You grant ProgressLens only the limited permission needed to process your content on your device, create the export or share output you request, and provide support when you voluntarily send us information.

5. ProgressLens Pro subscriptions

ProgressLens Pro is an auto-renewable subscription purchased through Apple's In-App Purchase system or Google Play Billing, depending on your device and storefront. The purchase screen will identify the available plan, duration, price, and features. Pro may provide unlimited check-ins and measurements and additional sharing or watermark controls, as described in the purchase screen and applicable store metadata. Google Play may also offer a one-time Lifetime purchase where shown; a Lifetime purchase is not an auto-renewing subscription.

  • Billing. Payment is charged to your Apple Account or Google Account when the applicable store confirms the purchase. Prices are displayed by Apple or Google Play in your local currency and may vary by country, tax, exchange rate, and store pricing.
  • Automatic renewal. Unless you turn off auto-renewal, an Apple or Google Play subscription renews automatically for the same duration at the then-current price. For Apple subscriptions, cancel auto-renewal in your Apple Account settings at least 24 hours before the current subscription period ends; Apple may charge your account within the 24 hours before the period ends. For Google Play subscriptions, cancel through Google Play subscription settings before the next renewal in accordance with Google Play's displayed renewal terms.
  • Management and cancellation. Apple subscribers can use Apple Account subscription settings. Google Play subscribers can use Google Play subscription settings. Deleting ProgressLens does not cancel a subscription.
  • Trials and offers. A free trial, introductory offer, promotional offer, or other offer exists only if it is clearly shown in the Apple or Google Play purchase flow. If an offer converts to a paid subscription, the conversion price and timing will be shown before you confirm.
  • Restore. Use the in-app Restore Purchases control on the same platform and store account used for the purchase. A purchase made through Apple generally cannot be restored through Google Play, and a Google Play purchase generally cannot be restored through Apple.
  • Refunds. Apple or Google Play handles payment processing and most refund requests. Request a refund through the applicable store's support and purchase tools. Contact support@progresslens.app if you need help identifying the relevant ProgressLens plan, but we cannot override a store's billing or refund decision.
  • Expiration. If a subscription expires, is revoked, suspended, or cannot be verified, Pro features may become unavailable. Your locally stored content is not deleted solely because a subscription expires, but free-use limits or other restrictions may apply.

Apple's payment, subscription, and App Store terms or Google Play's payment, subscription, and store terms also apply to your purchase, depending on the platform used.

6. Ownership and intellectual property

ProgressLens, including its name, software, design, text, graphics, and other materials supplied by us, is owned by ProgressLens or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Except for rights granted by Apple's Standard EULA, applicable platform terms, and these Terms, no rights are granted to you. You may provide feedback, but we may use feedback without restriction or payment, provided we do not identify you publicly without permission.

7. Third-party services

ProgressLens may use Apple services such as the App Store, StoreKit, Camera, Photos, Files, notifications, and the iOS share sheet; Google Play services such as Google Play Billing, Camera, the Android photo picker, Files, notifications, and the Android Sharesheet; and Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. Those services are operated by third parties and may have separate terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for a third-party service's availability, content, security, or handling of information after you choose to use it.

8. Availability, updates, and backups

We may update, improve, modify, limit, suspend, or discontinue all or part of ProgressLens. We do not promise that the app will always be available, error-free, compatible with every device, or preserve every feature or data format indefinitely. You are responsible for installing updates and keeping independent backups of important content.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PROGRESSLENS IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP, ITS MEASUREMENTS, CHARTS, COMPARISONS, REMINDERS, EXPORTS, OR RESTORES WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you. You retain any mandatory consumer warranties and rights that cannot legally be excluded.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PROGRESSLENS AND ITS LICENSORS, SERVICE PROVIDERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, CONTENT, PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE APP OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO PROGRESSLENS OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US FOR PROGRESSLENS IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR (B) USD 100. THESE LIMITATIONS DO NOT APPLY TO LIABILITY THAT CANNOT LEGALLY BE LIMITED OR EXCLUDED.

11. Suspension and termination

You may stop using ProgressLens and delete it at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these Terms, if required to protect the app or its users, or if we discontinue the app. Termination does not automatically delete local data or cancel an Apple or Google Play subscription. Sections concerning ownership, content responsibility, disclaimers, liability, and any provisions that by their nature should survive will survive termination.

12. Platform provider terms

Apple and Google are not parties to these Terms concerning your relationship with ProgressLens, except as provided by their own platform terms. Apple and Google are not responsible for providing maintenance or support for ProgressLens. Claims relating to ProgressLens, including product-liability, legal-compliance, consumer-protection, or privacy claims, are the responsibility of ProgressLens to the extent required by applicable law. You must comply with the applicable Apple, Google Play, and operating-system terms when using the app.

13. Governing law and consumer rights

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where you reside, without limiting any mandatory consumer-protection rights. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it may be brought in a court with lawful jurisdiction over you or the dispute. If a court finds a provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when ProgressLens, our subscriptions, or applicable law changes. We will post the updated version at this page and update the effective date. Your continued use of ProgressLens after an update means you accept the updated Terms to the extent permitted by law. Changes to subscription prices, durations, or features will also be presented through the App Store and the purchase flow where required.

15. Contact

For questions about these Terms, the app, or a subscription, contact support@progresslens.app.
